New House in Hale Well Under Way – 17/06/2011

The two storey dwelling is designed to responds both to the varied architecture adjacent to it and to the vernacular buildings in the area.

Its slate roof with steep pitch and low eaves levels dominates the roofscape, the prominent chimney and glazed gables help break up the visual mass.

Fenestration dominates the elevations, rectangular in proportion with decorative brick solider course lintels and stone cills all to emulate the Victorian model which blends effortlessly with the modern details of the vertically glazing running parallel to the chimney stack.

The use of sandstone to the entrance and feature window combined with the oak posts on the first floor all help create an individual and informal character to the building.

With the roof in place and stone work nearly done, we are starting to see the final design emerging.
