Work starts on Bowdon New Build

Posted by Sarah Hardie on Thursday, 16 May 2019 at 13:28:56

The house will be constructed in traditional materials indigenous to the Conservation Area it sits in, such as red wire cut bricks for the walls, natural grey blue slate for the roof and buff sandstone for the feature walls and details such as cills and pillars.

The traditional steep slate roof, the feature portico and double height entrance and the stylized bay window are modern interpretations of 'Victorian' ethos as are the high quality natural materials that will be used.

The house will have 5 bedrooms (4 en-suite) and a family bathroom, a large open plan kitchen/garden room and utility, lounge, snug, integral double garage and a gym. All designed for modern family living with a bit of luxury!

How to do modern in a traditional Victorian Cheshire property!

Posted by Sarah Hardie on Monday, 08 January 2018 at 15:15:19

Filed under: Remodelling, Projects, Announcements, General

The original house was previously extended but had not been constructed to be in keeping with a building of this age and architectural appearance. We demolished the existing garage and two storey rear extension, both of which formed part of the previous extension works, and replaced this with a single storey side extension and a two storey rear extension, both of which are on the same footprint. Furthermore we formed a small rear single storey entrance which enabled us to open up the existing stairs which were cramped and devoid of any natural light. The main principle of the scheme was to open up the interior of the building allowing for improved natural light and to create an efficient, ergonomic family dwelling which blends into the long-established neighbourhood.  All materials that have been used are in keeping with the period of the house and the design of the extension retain the proportions and heights of the existing period of the property, along with the windows and doors and a new Victorian styled traditional sky lantern.

Construction of Luxury Property in Bowdon

Posted by Sarah Hardie on Monday, 15 May 2017 at 13:14:40

Filed under: New Houses, Projects, General

Construction of this new property is well under way. The existing dwelling was demolished to make way for what will be a stunning two and a half storey detached house.

The main reason for the construction of a new house is that the new owners wanted to replace the existing dwelling with a more up to date home more suited to their current needs, and to be more environmentally efficient and sustainable.  The thermal efficiency of the new house will be far superior to the previous building.

The high quality of design will not only be apparent in the thermal efficiency of the construction but also in the choice of natural materials such as stone, slate and brick.  The windows will be powder coated aluminium.  Together with the contemporary design of the house and the detailing of the features and proportions it will be a fabulous family home.
